Here's a story about our little studio with BIG plans:
"Among a plethora of Crossfit boxes and Bootcamps, Amy and I were looking for something different. I was burnt out and needed a change. Prior to getting pregnant with my second child in 2013, I was looking for a change from high-impact exercise and wanted something challenging, yet low-impact and equally effective. I discovered barre just after getting pregnant in early 2013, and no stranger to fitness, I still left my first barre experience feeling shocked at how challenging it was - but also feeling so rejuvenated and clearheaded afterward. I knew this t nechnique was exactly what I was looking for, except there were no dedicated barre studios nearby. I told my husband I was opening a studio. Okay, maybe it wasn't that simple...
Fast-forward to the birth of my second baby in 2014: I had gained 50 lbs with my pregnancy and had over 35 to lose when I left the hospital. I started barre classes at 12 weeks postpartum and never looked back. I drove an hour to take class several days a week, and slowly but surely the inches and pounds fell off. But the main difference was that I wasn't killing myself with crazy (or boring) cardio. I wasn't lifting heavier and heavier weights at the risk of injuring myself. I just stuck with it. For the first time in my life, I STUCK WITH IT. Don't get me wrong, there were set backs. I just missed my goal of hitting my prepregnancy weight by my daughter's first birthday. But I didn't get discouraged and give up. I hit and surpassed my goal weight by the time she was 13 months old, only this time I was leaner, stronger, fitter than before.
At some very early point in this journey, I reached out to my good fitness pal, Amy, and we spent all of 2015 researching and trying out every type of barre class we could find, until we were certain we found THE ONE. Then we decided to go for it! We traveled to Miami to get certified to teach barre by the industry's original barre trainers, so we can bring our passion to others who are looking for something different - something they can stick with, that will continue to challenge and change them.
Almost two years in the making, our vision for a boutique barre studio in the Central Valley has arrived. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have enjoyed creating this beautiful little studio with big plans, and we can't wait to have you join us on our journey to redefine the fitness experience!
